BLACK
Low Key

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

A little different kind of low key. I've seen a few colour-themed images like this a long time ago and I've always wanted to do one. Some twentysomething years later, here it is. Although it is not a period piece, I'll reach for a Phil Spector's Wall of Sound fan from the seventies: Dave Edmunds - Baby I Love You. Simplicity is highly underrated. :)

  1. Baby, I love this! :) Oh là là, I'm getting carried away by the song!
The abundant detail within the blacks blows me away. I can't help wondering how this would have fit into the scanner art competition that just ended on Worth.

  2. WOw, this is a totally awesome example of low key work! Fantastic choice of subject items, a marvellous arrangement of them for a very graphic finish, and perfect lighting to expose every bit to its full potential. Simply stunning display of how low key doesn't mean under-exposed! Superb! I am in awe!

We need this on Worth as an example of Low Key work, for sure. Wanna write a tutorial?! ;-)

  6. I thought this was a boxed set of something until I looked closer. Great job arranging them! And I agree, excellent low key. Someday I will learn to do this right.

  7. Oh, Wow, I really love this. The low-key is superb and the graphic design does not evade me. Makes me think of those new IKEA cookbook photos. (albeit very white and hi-key) the placement is very reminiscent.

  9. Great composition, it reminds me of the IKEA inspired food contest in MM.

  10. This is really cool. It makes me feel like a spy kit, or like a photo from CSI where they laid out all the evidence.

  11. I thought this was some type of electronics gadget, it takes much closer observation to see what you have really done.
